CLASS DESCRIPTIONS


MOVEMENT BASED YOGA CLASSES

BEGINNERS YOGA

An introductory class in which some of the key principles and ideas of Yoga practice are explained, demonstrated and experienced. The class involves movement, breath practices and relaxation. Suitable for anyone who is curious about the fundamentals. Difficulty Level 2

GENTLE YOGA MOVEMENT

A soft and accessible class using gentle movements and yoga shapes to bring awareness to the body. This class is designed to create a feeling of openness, mobility and lightness without being too physically demanding. Suitable for all able-bodied people. Difficulty Level 2

YOGA FOR STRESS

This is a relaxing class in which we will employ different techniques for calming the body and mind. Combining traditional Eastern and modern Western ideas we will use movement and breathing to see if we can move out of stress response and into balance. Suitable for all able-bodied people who experience stress. Difficulty Level 2

YOGA FOR BALANCE

This is a movement class in which we will explore various yoga poses and sequences of poses that test and train our ability to balance. As the emphasis is on balance it is not as physically demanding as other classes, but a basic level of mobility is necessary. Difficulty Level 2

YOGA FOR FLEXIBILITY

A classical yoga class using traditional postures to explore our ranges of motion and increase general flexibility. We will use postures to affect most areas of the body and see how the use of breath and awareness can influence our flexibility in the postures.  Suitable for people with a basic level of mobility or higher. Difficulty Level 3

VINYASA KRAMA YOGA

A classical style of Yoga in which postures are performed with variations according to the individual’s ability and needs. The emphasis of this style of yoga is the interaction between breath body and mind. Each movement is smooth and mindful, and each person is encouraged to find the right level of challenge for them. Difficulty Level 3

YIN YANG YOGA FLOW

This class will start out in an active, dynamic way and become softer and more passive towards the end. The Yang part at the beginning will be powerful and invigorating which will allow you to let go more completely when the relaxing surrendering part comes around. Suitable for most people. Difficulty Level 3

YOGA POSE BREAKDOWN

This class will be a combination of practice and discussion in which we will go over a few yoga poses in more detail. There will be space for questions and personal exploration of the poses. Difficulty Level 3

STRONG AND STEADY YOGA FLOW

A flowing class with smooth transitions at a steady considered pace. While the focus of this class is on strength and stability, relaxation and breath techniques will also be practised. A challenging class designed for those with a decent level of fitness. Difficulty Level 4

YOGA FOR STRENGTH

A challenging class in which traditional yoga postures are adapted to emphasise building strength. Whilst staying true to the key principles of yoga practice this class will provide a balanced workout for the whole body. A decent level of fitness required. Difficulty Level 4

YOGA ARM BALANCES

This is a workshop in which we will break down a few common arm balances and explore techniques and approaches to them. Typically we will look at crow, scorpion, headstand and handstand. A decent level of fitness and strength is needed. Difficulty Level 5

PREGNANCY YOGA

A class specifically designed to address the needs of pregnant women. Working with breath and movement to support you in pregnancy as well as simple techniques that can be used while in labour. Suitable for women in any trimester, though we recommend you have a chat with Moni prior to booking. Difficulty Level 2

AERIAL

Using a hammock to perform yoga poses and movements suspended in the air, this class helps to increase flexibility and dynamic strength. It is also extremely beneficial for the spine and improving posture. Difficulty Level 5


STILLNESS BASED YOGA CLASSES

YIN YOGA

A very popular modern form of Yoga in which passive poses are relaxed into for between five and ten minutes. Some Yin classes will use a lot of props, others will use less, but all of them will be great for relaxing the nervous system and building body mind connection. Suitable for most people. Difficulty Level 1

REST & RESTORE YOGA

This hour will be an opportunity to embrace relaxation and calm. We will be using props to support the body with the aim of total comfort and surrender. Each pose lasts 15-20 minutes in order to allow your nervous system to fully reset. Suitable for everyone. Difficulty Level 1

YOGA NIDRA

A time for deep rest and relaxation. This class involves lying in passive stillness for the duration of the class as the teacher leads you through a guided meditation into the space between being awake and asleep. Suitable for everyone. Difficulty Level 0


MEDITATION CLASSES

MEDITATION

In these classes we will practice a variety of simple techniques non-physical to curiously investigate awareness, senses and the mind. Based on the various non-dual traditions of the east it is helpful if you have previous mindfulness experience but absolutely not essential. Suitable for everyone. Difficulty Level 0

MINDFULNESS

An age-old form of meditation that has become very popular in recent years. Mindfulness involves paying attention to something in the present moment non-judgementally. Typical objects of mindfulness include the breath, body sensations or a mantra. Suitable for everyone. Difficulty Level 0

MOVEMENT MEDITATION

An interactive class exploring the relationship between awareness, emotion and movement. We will do a variety of embodied free movement practices to investigate the interaction of our bodies and mind. Partner work is optional. A light-hearted practice for the curiously minded which may involve the edges of our comfort zones. Difficulty Level 2

POWER MEDITATION

A meditation practice that journeys from movement to stillness. Designed to get you out of your mind and into your body this practice involves shaking, dancing, sitting still and lying down. Perfect for anyone who wants to let go of the same old patterns. Difficulty Level 3

SINGING MEDITATION

This class involves singing, chanting and humming. We will be singing mantras out loud as a form of meditation. The mantras will be simple, everything will be done as a group and every voice is welcome! No singing experience necessary, suitable for everyone. Difficulty Level 0


FITNESS CLASSES

MORNING HIKE

Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes long (depending on the walking speed). Guests should meet at Raw Reception where our Trainer will lead the morning hike to the ruins of an old monastery. The walk is picturesque and a great way to explore the local nature and gently wake the body up. The distance is roughly 6km. Difficulty Level 3

BEACH RUN & STRETCH

Approximately 40 minutes. Guests should meet at Raw Reception where our Trainer will lead you down to the beach giving you running drills to perform along the beach road. The session will end with some brief stretching. Difficulty Level 4

CIRCUITS

A structured workout based on several exercises working different parts of the body. Each exercise is carried out using timed intervals. It is great for sports conditioning, strength, cardiovascular fitness and weight loss. Difficulty Level 4

FUNCTIONAL FITNESS

A session to develop dynamic strength in the body, offering techniques to build strength naturally and focus more on function rather than just aesthetic benefits. Targets structural muscles as opposed to the more superficial ones. Difficulty Level 4

HIIT

High intensity interval training, alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods. Great for cardiovascular fitness, weight loss and for building strength. Difficulty Level 5

EVENING STRETCH

Gentle stretches in the evening to wind down after your fitness session. Good for flexibility and the recovery of the muscles. Difficulty Level 2
